In all fairness, the approval of vasovist for EPIX is years too late and many dollars short. Vasovist was set to be monetized and sent on its way to fund the "new plan". Even that monetization was apparently mortgaged to Bayer or someone else (when they finally sold it off to Lantheus for $28M, $10M went to Bayer)

They acquired Predix in 2006 in an effort to transform themselves from an imaging company to a therapeutics company. Unfortunately, it's that huge bet that has been the massive bust - PRX00023 was the most advanced vandidate at the time of the merger - a proof of principle for the "highly efficient in silico drug discovery engine" but missed endpoints on two consecutive PhaseIIb trials, first in anxiety and then in depression (sucking up $$$ in the process). PRX3140 progress has been slow coming despite the GSK partnership. PRX08066 was also an expensive but promising compound that hasn't gone anywhere. I guess the koolaid ran out.
