I'm deeply sorry to hear about your loss, Karyn. Your story and Rep. Barton's letter raise legitimate doubts about whether FDA is investigating the heparin contamination thoroughly. FDA exists to prevent precisely this kind of tragedy, and it should use all of its resources intelligently to get to the bottom of the story. The public record about FDA's investigation contains conflicting statements, and it's reassuring to see Rep. Barton exercise Congress's powers of oversight. Congress, and we as citizens, can cooperate to ensure that FDA gains the information it needs to protect us now and in the future. Thank you for your comment.

My husband died from Heparin while on dialysis in Dec 2007. I reported to the fda.gov site as required. The FDA called me one time, left a message on my voicemail and then never returned my calls again. I doubt if any of their information is accurate. Nothing back from them except one phone message. So, how can we count on them for accuracy? I support Representative Barton in all he can do to get this mess cleared up. In the mean time, I know there are many families out there, like me, one of the "81" killed, that are not being heard.
